Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative illnesses are a ravage on modern society, with as many as 50% of people over the age of 85 suffering from some form of dementia.

Discovering a cure, or some way of slowing the progression of such diseases is big business, and something that researchers haven’t quite managed yet.

However, it appears we may already have a potential basis to finding some kind of effective treatment.

A humble mushroom known as Lion’s Mane, which has recently gained popularity in the health and wellness community for its brain-boosting powers, may have the power to do much more than help you focus.

Lion’s mane is a strange looking mushroom, very different to the classic mushroom shape we all think about. This mushroom looks somewhat like an albino hedgehog, essentially a big white furry ball.

Lion’s mane contains powerful compounds called Hericenones and Erinacenes which have been proven to stimulate Nerve Growth Factor (NGF). NGF is essentially what keeps our neurons healthy, promoting their growth, repair and maintenance.
